Anna holds a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Stockholm Health College in Stockholm, Sweden as well as Master’s degrees in Occupational Therapy and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. She has worked with empowering and teaching people from diverse cultures and walks of life on their healing journeys for over 20 years in Sweden as well as in the United States. From this, as well as personal experience with caregiving and illness, she has developed a deep appreciation for understanding healing as a holistic endeavor where body mind and spirit are interconnected and therefore all must be attended to. Apart from her formal education, she has trained in therapeutic use of yoga and yogic breathing techniques and mindfulness meditation.
Anna believes that people have an innate drive to growth and wholeness. Her approach to counseling is eclectic and relies on the therapeutic relationship as well as on mindful exploring of clients’ body-mind experiences. Anna also joins her clients in exploring meaning and purpose of their lives and in gaining self-acceptance and empathy for themselves and for others. She uses therapeutic models such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which helps clients explore their values and to move towards what is important in their lives and is especially helpful in dealing with depression and anxiety.
